Planting a vine should...

Defend the soil from the effects of the erosion.

Retain as much humidity as possible without creating points of stagnation.

If a vine has to be replaced it is suggested that the ground is left for at least two years following the complete removals of the old vines.

Another governing factor is that vines must be planted so that the day's arrives in between the rows and thereby on the plants and fruits. This orientation is from east to west.

Return the ground to its original state following the plantation.
